How to Have a No-Fuss Beach Photoshoot Experience

Have you ever seen a beautiful beach photoshoot and thought “must be nice to live in South Carolina” or “maybe next time we visit Florida”? As someone who has traveled both north AND south to have beach photos taken, let me tell ya, sometimes it is more work than it is worth (I’m looking at you Florida photoshoot IYKYK).

Don’t get me wrong, our photos this year in Traverse City were an absolutely magical DREAM. But we only did them up there because we were already going to be in the area for other events. Lake Michigan is lovely but dragging my family over there just to get photos done would probably fry them. On the west side of the state you also have to wait out the sunset… which means sometimes your session can’t start until after 8pm.

However, did you know that you can have a local, mid-Michigan summer beach photoshoot experience without the hours of driving, wildly late nights, or expense of the Lake Michigan experience? (Or having your heart broken in Florida?)

Little Keepsake Pond Sessions are my happy solution! I started offering these as a way to get that summer beach feel in a simple and affordable session and they are easily my most popular offering of the last few years. Families have enjoyed the chance to explore and adventure by the water without having to go too far from home (though a few clients have even traveled from the west side to enjoy a quiet night at the pond).

With beautiful greenery, secluded paths, and a quiet, cool watering hole this location is absolutely perfect for an early evening session. The light filters through the trees so we don’t have to wait until the last bit of sun is setting for beautiful light.

These sessions are also my most affordable, including virtual wardrobe styling, 15 images and the chance to pick out your favorite portraits with me.

Because these sessions are untimed, I offer the opportunity at the end of the session to dip your toes in and enjoy the cool water… for families who want to avoid the water and hike instead, there is a field and a beautiful overlook available at this location as well.

A Little Keepsake Pond session might be the perfect fit for your family if you love the outdoors and a little bit of adventure but don’t want to deal with the unpredictability of a big lake photoshoot. Especially if you have little kids, a specific budget, and a mid-Michigan zip code this might be the perfect opportunity to get fresh family photos without any fuss. Contact me today to set yours up! I book these sessions from late June through early September.
