After almost a year of taking Dottie’s monthly photos (and 4+ years of photographing Felix), the number one thing I have confirmed is that their best smiles come from playful interaction. While I always try to bring playfulness to sessions, I wanted to have a specific mini session designated for little ones that is open all year round. These sessions are designed especially for toddlers and young children who thrive when they’re allowed to be themselves. Instead of asking kids to sit still or “say cheese,” we lean into what feels natural. We play. We laugh. We hide and reveal. We follow their lead. These sessions are set up to give children room to take a break and go at their own speed.

Your child will get to bring along a favorite toy (and maybe even their favorite snacks)… something they love to hold tight, something that makes them giggle, something that feels like home. I will use it to spark peek-a-boo moments and silly interactions that invite genuine expressions without pressure. The result is a gallery full of honest smiles, curious looks, precious details and real personality.

What to Expect from a Little Keepsake Session

Little Keepsake sessions are intentionally untimed and relaxed, typically lasting around 5 minutes but can be longer or shorter depending on your little one’s needs. This flexibility allows your child to warm up at their own pace, without the feeling of being rushed or “on display” and it gives you time to soak up their giggles and joy without the time pressure.

These sessions are centered on connection rather than performance, making them an especially good fit for children who may be shy, sensitive, or simply more comfortable once they’ve had a chance to settle in.
